A broad foundation

Skills for the puppy and the family

  • Focus, attention, hand targets, and responding to cues
  • Coming when called, staying, and beginning heel position
  • Loose-leash walking and polite greetings without jumping
  • Leave it, impulse control, and appropriate toy use
  • Preventing resource guarding and leash reactivity
  • Canine enrichment, crate use, diet discussions, and the transition to adolescence

How Jollytails trains

Teach owners how learning works

Classes use positive reinforcement and discuss canine communication, learning theory, and the individual dog—not just a list of exercises. Jollytails does not support harsh physical corrections. The goal is a working partnership that families can continue at home.

Socialization means positive experience

Exposure alone is not enough. A puppy should be introduced gradually, given choice, and paired with rewards so new people, dogs, sounds, surfaces, and places feel safe.

Before class

Bring rewards and confirm health requirements

Bring high-value, puppy-sized treats and a standard leash. Retractable leashes, choke collars, and prong collars are not used in class. Visibly sick puppies should stay home. Contact Jollytails for current vaccination requirements and class policies.
