Daycare leadership

Daycare Supervisor

Lead safe, humane, and well-organized daycare operations while supporting the attendants who care for every dog.

Reports to the Assistant Manager

The role

Day-to-day leadership with safety at the centre

Reporting directly to the Assistant Manager, the Daycare Supervisor is the lead daycare worker. The Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day daycare operations and the on-site supervision of Daycare Attendants.

Providing a safe and clean environment for the dogs in our care is the top priority. The Supervisor ensures the daycare facilities are safe, playgroups are appropriately monitored, and daycare staff complete daily activities in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Attentive leadership matters

The Supervisor is the ears, hands, and eyes of the daycare operation. This means staying alert to playgroup dynamics, supporting the daycare team, and escalating unusual or uncertain situations promptly.

Daycare facility and asset monitoring

Keep the facility safe, stocked, and operational

Facility management and safety are everyone’s responsibility. The Supervisor helps ensure that daycare facilities and related equipment are safe and operational, supplies are stocked, regular cleaning is completed, and issues are reported to the Assistant Manager.

This includes monitoring air and heat systems; doors, locks, and gates; turf and flooring; mats; crates; and other daycare equipment and assets.

  • Ensure daycare operations and cleaning supplies are stocked.
  • Confirm that the facility is safe and operational.
  • Report safety issues or damage immediately to the Assistant Manager.
  • Recommend facility and operational improvements.

Animal care

Protect safe play and humane care

Above all, the Supervisor must ensure playgroups are safe and every animal in Jollytails’ care is treated humanely. The Supervisor is responsible for the overall management of off-leash playgroups in accordance with Jollytails policies.

  • Coordinate new-dog assessments safely and effectively.
  • Coordinate feeding rotations.
  • Ensure dog-related issues are reported in a timely manner.
  • Recommend appropriate strategies in response to dog-related issues.

Daycare team supervision

Train, coach, and support the daycare team

The Supervisor ensures daycare staff are trained in day-to-day operations, contribute to the workload, and complete all required tasks.

  • Train new staff on job requirements and duties.
  • Coach daycare staff when work is not completed to a high standard.
  • Ensure daycare staff are competent and comfortable performing all duties—including assessments and feeding—when the Supervisor is absent.
  • Report staff issues to the Assistant Manager, including situations that require repeated coaching.

Reporting and special projects

Keep management informed

The Supervisor reports daily issues to the Assistant Manager and completes Daily Shift Reports for management and the owners.

If an unusual circumstance occurs, or the Supervisor is unsure how to proceed while the Assistant Manager is absent, the issue must be reported directly to the Manager or the owners.

The Supervisor is also responsible for special projects and duties as assigned.
