Meet our Intercolonial Street Halifax Team
Lynsay Bayers, Store Manager
Lynsay had a passion for animals her entire life, and has been involved in the pet care industry for over five years. After earning her degree from Eastern College, she worked as a Veterinary Assistant and Pet Attendant, as well as completed animal First Aid/CPR training and became a Nutritional Advocate for pets. Fueling her desire to gain more knowledge, she then went on to take the Companion Animal Enterprise Management Program at Nova Scotia Agricultural College, where she learned Management and Dog Behavior training essential to successful dog daycare dynamic. Lynsay is constantly enrolled into new courses/certifications to further her education and skill-set in the world of companion animals.
Joining Lynsay at Jollytails are Maverick and Maida, her two Alaskan Malamutes. In her spare time, Lynsay and her dogs work together on Competitive obedience, Conformation shows and Urban Mushing, all working towards her goal of bettering the Malamute breed through proper socialization, training and breeding.
Sarah Jowett, Assistant Manager
Sarah and her superstar rescue dog Jackson drove from Montreal to Halifax this summer looking for a new adventure! So far, they love the East Coast. Sarah has over fifteen years of experience in the pet product industry, and loves all kinds of critters - fur, feathers or fins. She also has an AEC in Illustration and Design, but has quit the graphic design industry to spend more time with Jackson and conserve her creative energy for what she enjoys painting in her spare time - watercolour “petraits” and the beautiful Maritime scenery. Both Sarah and Jackson are die-hard Montreal Canadiens fans. Et oui, on parle français aussi!
Twyla Schnare, Daycare Supervisor
Twyla was born and raised on the Peggys Cove Road and currently shares her home with 2 wonderful dogs of her own, Kilo and Buddy. She has always wanted to work with dogs her entire life and being a part of the Jollytails team has made that dream a reality. She is excited to have the opportunity to do something she absolutely LOVES for many years to come!
Kyla has been passionate about animals, especially dogs, her entire life. She graduated from NSCC in 2011 with a diploma in business administration, where she concentrated in marketing. After graduating, Kyla spent the next few years working in customer service, but always wanted an opportunity to work with animals. She currently does not have a dog of her own, but hopes have one soon.
Kyla is very excited to be a part of the Jollytails team, and looks forward to spending her days with the lovely dogs that attend daycare.
Tyra joined the Jollytails family to completely change her career and lifestyle. She is a former correctional worker whose love for animals (especially her canine companion, Molly) has pushed her to outgrow her work with the justice system. Molly is Tyra's heart dog, who at a young age was diagnosed with canine megaesophagus. This is a congenital disease (which she shares with her sister Kaya) that prevents her esophagus from pushing the food/water to her belly! We manage the disease by using a special high chair (Bailey chair) for her to eat in, thickening her water, along with many other time consuming practices. So a career where Molly is able to join Tyra every day has been a huge blessing!
Brittany moved to Halifax in the fall of 2016 from Victoria, BC.Born and raised in small mountain town Canmore, Alberta, Britt loves the outdoors and any activity that gets her outside. Brittany graduated from the University of Calgary in 2008 with a Bachelor of Kinesiology. She has since worked in the group fitness and personal training fields in various cities before settling in Halifax. Britt grew up with cats, and until this past winter had missed out on the love and joy that belonging to a dog brings. She lives with her boyfriend, Dave, and her soul dog, Sherman (pictured.) Don't let the jowls fool you, he is a happy sweetheart!
Nicole grew up in Cole Harbour and has always had a passion for animals. She graduated from NSCC’s Screen Arts program in 2014 and pursued a career in filmmaking. Deciding to switch paths, Nicole chose to focus on her love for animals. Before working at Jollytails, Nicole worked as a groomer under a variety of professional groomers and frequently attends a variety of seminars on professional pet care. She currently does not own a dog of her own, but gets plenty of love from her cat, Daisy, and her many rodents. She can be seen here snuggling alongside Charlie.
Nicole is always eager to learn more and is excited to expand her skill sets in animal care with Jollytails.
Emily grew up in Mount Uniacke, Nova Scotia. She has always had a passion for animals so it only made sense to pursue a career that involved animals!
Before Jollytails, Emily never considered working in a daycare for dogs but is loving it. She also works part time at K-9 Orthotics and Prosthetics.
Emily currently does not have any dogs of her own but is sure after working at Jollytails it won't be long before she does.

Leah grew up in Sackville, Nova Scotia. She has had a passion for animals, especially dogs, since she was young. Leah had dogs her whole life — as well as cats and a few rodents. She used to volunteer at the SPCA multiple times a week. Currently, Leah has two dogs of my own, Mya & King. They are the reason she decided a career with dogs was the right fit. She is so excited to be part of the Jollytails team so she can snuggle with the cutest dogs everyday!
Krista is our Halifax Saturday Socials lady. If you have been to our Halifax puppy or little dog socials, you probably recognize her. She has been an animal lover her entire life, and is happy to be able to hang out with the puppies and littles every Saturday. If you attend our socials, you know that you are in great hands. We are so happy to have Krista on Team Jollytails.
Angie QUIRK, Groomer
Angela spent all of her life fanatical about dogs, and other pets, growing up alongside many animals. In 2005 Angela moved to Calgary, Alberta and worked in animal retail. In 2009, she began working as a bather/brusher where she decided to become a dog groomer. Shortly after graduating from grooming school, under certified master groomer Jeanette Embree, in 2010 Angela was hired by her teacher to work at “A Royal Touch” (Calgary, AB). In 2011, Angela began work at “Hair of the Dog” (Calgary, AB), under master groomer Michelle Skinner. Angela credits her knowledge and skills to both of her former mentors, and is looking forwards to acquire new experience at Jollytails in Atlantic Canada. While Angela enjoys working with all breeds of dog, some of her favourites to groom include: Pomeranians, Shelties, Poodles, and Doodles. Angela is a proud owner of several amazing dogs: Her two lovely Pomeranians, Vixie (12), and Runt (9); Indigo (6) her Australian cattle dog; and her tea cup Yorkshire Terrier, Chewbacca (4).
cindy white, Groomer
Cindy graduated from the Academy of Cosmetology in 2010, starting her career as a human hairstylist. After working in the beauty industry for a couple of years she realized the only way she could love her job more would be to incorporate animals into it, and so in 2012 her journey to become a dog groomer began. She has never looked back. Cindy enjoys attending any and all continuing education opportunities she can in order to keep up with her knowledge and techniques. She has certified with the Canadian Professional Pet Stylists at the level of Intermediate Stylist Technician. In her spare time you can find her hanging out with her two dogs, two cats and rabbit!
Jennie Pelton, Groomer
Jennie loves animals and is passionate about their care. She attended the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design for 2 years before embarking on her dog grooming career. She has attended several workshops and conferences both locally and nationally in pet grooming and care and has obtained the Stylist Technician Certificate in June 2014. Her favorite furry companion is DoraMae - a bearded collie mix that she adopted from the SPCA 4 years ago. DoraMae is currently sporting a brightly hued feather in one of her ears courtesy of her Mom, the groomer.
